Replit

Replit is a cloud platform from Replit, Inc. where an AI agent builds, runs and publishes web and mobile apps from a chat prompt. Its August 2026 Free Mode, powered by OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Luna, lets paid subscribers do everyday Agent work without spending credits. Founders, operators and product teams use it to ship software without local setup.

Best for

  • Founders building their first product
  • Operations and IT teams automating work
  • Builders who want hosting included

Key features

Agent with three modes

Free Mode covers everyday chat and builds within an allowance; Power and Max modes use credits for heavier, more complex work.

Design canvas and imports

Explore visual designs, then import Figma frames, live websites or Claude designs and turn them into working apps.

Native mobile apps

Agent builds iOS and Android apps with Expo Go previews and a guided flow for uploading to App Store Connect.

Built-in hosting and databases

Publish with autoscale, scheduled or reserved VM deployments, plus PostgreSQL and app storage billed from the same credits.

Routines

Schedule recurring work, such as weekly competitor research, and receive the results back in the same chat thread.

Parallel tasks on Pro

Pro runs up to 10 background tasks at once for up to 15 builders sharing pooled credits.

Use cases

  • Build and publish an internal dashboard with a database, then share it with five collaborators on Core.
  • Take a Figma design, rebuild it as a live app and connect Stripe for payments.
  • Create a phone-first app, test it on your own device with Expo Go and submit it to TestFlight.

Pricing

Pricing from
$20/month

Starter is free with daily Agent credits and one published app. Core costs $20/month ($18/month billed annually) with $20 in credits, and Pro costs $100/month ($90 annually) with $100 in credits. Enterprise is custom.

Ways to save

  • Yearly billing takes Core from $20 to $18 a month and Pro from $100 to $90.
  • Staying in Free Mode on Core or Pro avoids spending monthly credits until the allowance runs out; limits reset every 5 hours.

What is Replit?

Replit runs everything in the browser: the editor, the AI agent, the database and the hosting. Beyond apps, Core and Pro can also produce slide decks, data visualizations and animated videos. Desktop apps exist for Mac, Windows and Linux, and the iOS and Android apps focus on building websites and web apps from a phone.

How billing works

Subscriptions include monthly credits that pay for Power and Max Mode requests, publishing, data transfer and database storage. Pro credits roll over for two months, and Cloud prices dropped from August 1, 2026, with autoscale compute falling from $3.20 to $0.60 per million units. When credits run out, pay-as-you-go billing keeps apps running unless you set spending limits.

Limitations

  • Costs combine a subscription with usage-based charges, so heavy agent sessions or busy apps raise the bill.
  • Free Mode picks the model for you; choosing a specific model requires Power or Max Mode.
  • Agent output is probabilistic, and Replit’s pricing page warns it may occasionally make mistakes.
  • Native iOS builds need the web app, not the mobile app.

Replit FAQ

Yes. The Starter plan includes daily Agent credits up to a monthly cap, Lite build and one published app. That app goes offline after 30 days and carries a Made with Replit badge.

Free Mode is an Agent mode launched on August 18, 2026 that uses GPT-5.6 Luna and does not consume credits. Core subscribers get up to 30 hours of chat a month, with usage limits resetting every 5 hours.

Starter excludes Plan Mode, full autonomous builds, third-party connectors, Replit AI Integrations, Power and Max modes, extra published apps and badge removal. All of those need Core or Pro.

Yes. On the web, Agent builds native iOS and Android apps, previews them in Expo Go and guides you through App Store submission. You still need your own Apple Developer account.
