v0

v0 is Vercel's AI agent for building web apps, dashboards and interfaces from prompts, screenshots or Figma files. VM-backed chats run in an isolated Vercel Sandbox with a real Node.js server, and projects deploy straight to Vercel. It suits React and Next.js developers, designers and product teams who prototype on the Vercel stack.

Key features

Sandbox-backed chats

Each VM-backed chat gets its own Vercel Sandbox with a dev server, terminal and code editor, so server routes and databases work in preview.

Design mode

Select elements in the preview, adjust styles visually and apply the results back to the code.

GitHub workflow

Import an existing repository or connect one, then ship changes through branches, preview deployments and pull requests.

Four v0 models

Choose v0 Mini, v0 Pro, v0 Max or v0 Max Fast, each billed at its own per-token rate.

Pre-installed agents

Run Claude Code inside the project sandbox terminal, with requests routed through the Vercel AI Gateway.

Integrations

Connects Vercel Marketplace services such as Neon, Supabase and Stripe, plus Figma, Shopify, Snowflake, Slack and MCP servers.

Use cases

  • Turn a Figma file or wireframe screenshot into a working Next.js page and deploy a preview link.
  • Open a branch on an existing GitHub repository and let v0 build a feature behind a pull request.
  • Build an internal dashboard on Snowflake data and share it with teammates on a Plus plan.

What is v0?

v0 is an AI agent from Vercel that writes real code for full-stack apps and agents. It can search the web, run terminal commands in its sandbox under Ask, Auto or Full permission modes, and fix its own errors. Finished work publishes to Vercel as a preview or production deployment, with custom domains.

Who it’s for

v0 fits teams already using Next.js and Vercel, since deployments, environment variables and billing run through Vercel. Design systems can be taught to v0 through a custom registry built on shadcn.

Limitations

  • Generation pauses when credits run out, and short prompts can still use many input tokens because project context is included.
  • The Free plan’s 7 daily messages allow only light testing.
  • Opting out of data use for training requires Business or Enterprise.
  • The pricing page offers no student, nonprofit or purchasing-power discounts, beyond the separate student program for selected schools.

v0 FAQ

Yes. The Free plan costs $0. New accounts get a one-time $5 credit, while existing Free users keep $5 a month, plus a 7-message daily limit, deployments to Vercel, Design Mode and GitHub sync. Buying extra credits requires a paid plan.

No. v0 uses your Vercel account to log in but is billed separately from Vercel Hobby, Pro or Enterprise. A one-member Vercel Pro team plus a v0 plan means two charges.

Ultra has been sunset, and its users moved to Premium with a $200 credit grant. Premium, at $20 a month, is itself being phased out and is not available to new users.

It depends on the model and context. Rates per 1M tokens run from $0.20 input and $1.20 output on v0 Mini to $5 and $25 on v0 Max, and chat history and source files count as input.
