What is Udio?

Udio generates songs, vocals included, from a description or your own lyrics. It runs in the browser and in an official iOS app, and paid plans add voice control, editing of music and lyrics, uploaded audio and custom cover art.

What changed

On October 29, 2025 Udio announced a partnership with Universal Music Group and switched off downloads the same day. A deal with Warner Music Group followed on November 19, 2025, which also settled that company’s copyright lawsuit. Udio describes the current service as a transition period while it prepares new models trained on licensed music, and its help center still listed downloads as disabled when updated in February 2026.

Limitations

  • You cannot export audio or stems, so songs cannot leave Udio for streaming services or your own videos.
  • No launch date has been announced for the licensed platform.
  • There is no Android app.
