Key features

Songs from a prompt

Describe a genre, mood or topic, or paste your own lyrics, and each generation returns two complete songs with vocals.

v6 model family

v6 and the more experimental v6-wild are reserved for Pro and Premier, while the faster v6-mini is available to every account.

Section and word edits

Rewrite one section, line or single word of a song in plain language while the rest of the track stays intact.

Multimodal inputs

v6 accepts text, audio, images and video as prompts, and can sample, isolate and mash up elements from several sources.

Stem separation

Split a finished song into parts such as vocals and instruments, with 2 separation types on Pro and 3 on Premier.

Suno Studio

A Premier-only production workspace with MIDI, effects, automation and design-your-own plugins, and no monthly download cap.

Use cases

  • Turn a short poem or inside joke into a finished birthday song with vocals in a few minutes.
  • Generate royalty-free background tracks for YouTube videos or podcasts on a paid plan with commercial rights.
  • Record a hummed melody on your phone and let Suno build a full arrangement around it.
  • Separate the vocal stem from a generated track to rework the instrumental in your own audio editor.

What is Suno?

Suno turns a written idea into a finished song with singing, lyrics and backing music. It runs in the browser and in mobile apps for iOS and Android, where you can also record your own voice or a melody as a starting point.

What changed in 2026

Two changes reshaped Suno in September 2026. From September 3, downloads became capped per plan, and free accounts lost regular monthly downloads. On September 9, Suno released v6, its first model family built with licensed music from industry partners, and retired every earlier model.

Who it’s for

Casual users can experiment every day on the free credits. Creators who publish music on YouTube, social media or in podcasts need Pro or Premier for commercial rights, and producers who want MIDI and effects work belong on Premier for Suno Studio.

Limitations

  • The best models, stems and commercial use all require a paid plan.
  • Download caps now apply to every song in your library, including ones made before September 3, 2026.
  • Credits reset each day or month, and extra downloads cost more.
  • Commercial use remains subject to limits in Suno’s terms of service.

Suno FAQ

Yes. The Free Plan includes 50 credits a day, which covers about 10 songs with the v6-mini model. Free songs have no commercial rights, and since September 3, 2026 free accounts get only 7 lifetime downloads for personal use.

Since September 3, 2026, Pro includes 20 song downloads a month and Premier 60. Downloading the same song twice counts once, stems from one song count as one download, unused downloads don't carry over and Suno Studio users have no cap.

Only on a paid plan. Pro and Premier subscribers get commercial use rights to music they download, subject to Suno's terms of service. Songs and trial downloads on the Free Plan are for personal, non-commercial use only.

All models before v6 have been retired, so you can no longer generate new songs with them. Every existing song stays in your library, playable and shareable, and extending or remixing an older song now uses the v6 models.

Each generation costs 10 credits and produces two songs, so Pro's 2,500 monthly credits cover about 500 songs. Subscription credits reset and do not roll over from day to day or month to month.
