160+ languages and voices

Scripts can be voiced in more than 160 languages with over 1,000 AI voices and one-click translation.

AI Dubbing

Dubs uploaded files or YouTube links into 70+ languages on self-serve plans, preserving voice and accent with optional lip sync.

Interactive video and Roleplay

Add branching, CTAs and quizzes, or run scored Roleplay Sessions where learners practise conversations with an avatar.

Brand kits and templates

Apply company fonts, colors and logos across 60+ templates, with shared brand kits on Enterprise.

Sharing, embeds and SCORM

Publish to a branded video page with CTAs, embed the player on a site, or export courses as SCORM packages for an LMS.

Use cases

  • Refresh a compliance course by editing the script instead of rebooking a studio and a presenter.
  • Dub a recorded webinar into seven languages for regional teams, keeping the speaker's accent.
  • Turn a product release note into a two-minute avatar explainer for the sales team the same day.
  • Let new hires practise a customer conversation in a scored Roleplay Session with an interactive avatar.

What is Synthesia?

Synthesia is a browser-based studio for making videos with AI presenters. There is no camera, microphone or timeline to learn: you paste a script or a slide deck, choose an avatar and language, and the platform renders and hosts the result. Video pages, analytics and SCORM export are aimed at training and internal comms rather than social clips.

What stands out

  • Enterprise posture. Synthesia lists SOC 2 Type II, ISO 42001 and GDPR compliance, plus SAML/SSO on Enterprise.
  • Dubbing built in. AI Dubbing takes an upload or a YouTube link and keeps the speaker’s voice and accent.
  • Practice, not just playback. Roleplay Sessions add scored, interactive conversations on top of standard video.
  • Syren video agent. Launched in beta on October 9, 2026, Syren builds videos of up to three minutes from a prompt or files, with motion graphics, avatars, voiceover and music, on every plan.

Limitations

Seats are tight: Starter includes one editor and three guests, and Pro one editor and five guests, so real teams usually need Enterprise. Free videos carry the Synthesia logo and cannot be downloaded. Credits reset each cycle with no rollover, personal avatars are capped at three on Starter and five on Pro, and unlimited minutes only exist on Enterprise.

Synthesia FAQ

Yes, there is a free Basic plan with 500 credits a month, about 10 minutes of video or dubbing, 9 avatars and one editor seat. Videos keep the Synthesia logo, and Basic users cannot download them.

No. Synthesia's help center states that Basic and trial users cannot download videos; MP4 downloads start on Starter. Free videos can still be previewed and shared from a Synthesia link.

Credits are the shared currency for video, dubbing, bulk personalization and API usage. On self-serve plans, video costs about 100 credits a minute and dubbing about 76, with lip sync doubling the dubbing cost, and unused credits do not roll over.

Pro (formerly Creator) and Enterprise. Pro includes up to 360 minutes of video a year through the Synthesia API, deducted from the plan's usage limit, while Starter and Basic have no API access.

AI Dubbing covers 70+ languages on Basic, Starter and Pro, and 140+ on Enterprise. Avatar voices themselves are available in more than 160 languages across every plan.
